Steel Pan Session at AB Phab
Mon 15 Jun 2026UKON Careers successfully launched the first session of its twelve-week Carnival Costume Mentoring Programme, which will conclude with participants performing at Barking and Dagenham Carnival.
The opening session focused on welcoming and registering participants, introducing the programme theme, and exploring the different components of carnival costumes. Participants were also encouraged to reflect on what carnival means to them, leading to thoughtful and engaging discussions.
The session saw strong participation from all age groups, from young children to older residents, creating a vibrant and inclusive learning environment. Feedback from participants highlighted the positive atmosphere, with many describing the session as calming, collaborative, and full of creative ideas.
UKON Careers extends its sincere thanks to Zoinul and his team at the Barking Learning Centre for their support in hosting the programme and for providing a welcoming and well-prepared space.
This project is funded by The National Lottery through The Arts Council.
